compression testing
revolution implies a circle
i’m not particularly keen on circles
though i do sometimes feel controlled by them
the sun, the moon, a car tire
i realize i worship some or all of those
the engine “revs” unless it doesnt
there’s nothing perfect about turning, spinning
being held or pushed away by centrifugal force
(depends on whether you’re within or beyond the perimeter)
as for perimeters
they aren’t my favorite either
secured ones at least
a permeable membrane, a boundary
sure
put your phone on silent after 7pm and
don’t let your boyfriend talk to you like that
and lock the doors at night
and keep the rats out of the compost pile
but if you never open or closed the lid then your soil’d be depleted and you wouldn’t be composting in the first place
like anything else boundaries are good when they're functional
but back to circles
i get the obsession with perfection and closed loops
but those things aren’t realistic
and closed loops only happen in controlled environments
like testing lab rats to try and understand the limits of our will to live
i’ll tell you what i don’t need to be a lab rat overlord to understand whether i want to live or die
sometimes when you attempt control the circle becomes a blown piston ring and you find yourself feeding a weekly ten quarts of oil to an engine who never loved you so you can hold on a little longer to the idea of a sealed system.
its called “low compression” apparently
if you live here long enough you get used to car trouble and people leaving
no system is sealed and its a blessing
just make sure you locate the opening before it blows
all openings are portals
but it’s confusing because circles aren’t openings
its the fracture of the circle that is the portal, not the circle itself
following a car into the gated community
forbidden glitter scratches the cylinder
tire treads, a boat launch
closed circuit television when it cuts
an insurance scam if you’re brave
the tunnel entrance
the hole in the fence
my friend told me you can flail your way into anything
we have to take our chances while we can
courtesy flaps catch mud & pebbles to help you ignore that if you kick up the shit things get filthy
and there’s nothing sexy about desecration though i think we can all agree
its a thrill to rip around off the asphalt
but mud without water is dirt, and flaps can’t do anything for a dust trail that lingers long after the disruption
if you’re on your way to rock bottom it’s all downhill from here
